September 1st is a special day for Margaret and Bert. It is the day they wed and made a commitment to each other to love and cherish each other always and forever.
They lived that commitment for 41 years together until Bert left this life and has been looking after Margaret from heaven for the past 30 years.
Make no mistake, Bert has very much been with Margaret every day of those 30 years…giving her little signals to put down her book and go to bed, and miraculously enabling Margaret to do the ‘Bert jobs’ that seem out of her reach until she says to him, “Come on…give me a hand here, this is supposed to be your job.”
Margaret and Bert have been an inspiration to their family since they became ‘Margaret and Bert”. This morning I sent Margaret a happy anniversary text message on the 71st anniversary of her love for Bert. Her response to me is just too good to keep to myself.
Together Margaret and Bert provided us with so many examples of how to live a good life. Margaret continues to teach us how to love and enjoy life every day no matter the circumstances.
